Argentina has long been a powerhouse in the world of Malbec, and BenMarco Malbec stands out as a prime example of the country’s dedication to producing world-class wines. This exceptional Malbec, crafted under the guidance of renowned winemaker Edgardo Del Pópolo, showcases the unique terroir of Mendoza’s high-altitude vineyards while offering a rich, well-balanced drinking experience.
The grapes are sourced from the Los Chacayes IG (Indicación Geográfica) in the Uco Valley, one of Mendoza’s most prestigious wine regions. The vineyard sits at an elevation of approximately 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) above sea level, where the combination of high-altitude sunshine, cool nights, and well-drained, alluvial soils contributes to the wine’s distinctive character. This terroir enhances the grapes’ natural acidity, structure, and complexity, setting BenMarco Malbec apart from other expressions of the varietal.
BenMarco Malbec is crafted with minimal intervention to let the vineyard’s characteristics shine through. Hand-harvested grapes undergo fermentation using native yeasts, a process that emphasizes the authenticity of the fruit. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for approximately 11 months, imparting subtle hints of spice and vanilla without overshadowing the purity of the Malbec’s flavours.
Alluring aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, violets, and a touch of graphite. On the palate, it offers a perfect balance of ripe fruit, fresh acidity, and firm yet silky tannins. Notes of dark cherries, blueberries, and black pepper are complemented by a refined minerality and a long, elegant finish.
Pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. Classic pairings include grilled steaks, roasted lamb, and barbecued meats, as the wine’s tannins complement the richness of these proteins. For a more adventurous pairing, try it with mushroom risotto, aged cheeses, or even dark chocolate desserts to experience the wine’s versatility.
