The Pilot’s View is a hommage to Doug Collett, Woodstock founder and father to current owner, Scott Collett. Doug was a Spitfire pilot in WW2 and spent a lot of time flying over the main vineyards in Europe, it was during this time that Doug was inspired to create Woodstock winery back home in Australia. All fruit for this wine was grown at Woodstock enabling the grapes to be picked at just the right time. On the nose there is plenty of juicy dark berries, sweet vanilla and spices with an underlying earthiness. The palate is generous and round with a burst of plums, blackberries, mixed spices and traces of well integrated oak. Supple, savoury, textured, fine grain tannins leave you wanting more. Enjoy lots now or if patient, with careful cellaring in 7-10 years.
