Vinevinu Almanua Terroir Maritimo

Almanua is the wine of discovery and innovation from Requião in Portugal’s Vinho Verde DOC, created by brothers Manuel and Luís Cerdeira under the Vinevinu label. Crafted from estate-grown fruit, it captures the expression of the region’s distinctive maritime terroir. The vineyards are close to the sea, and the Atlantic breeze is ever-present—a defining influence on both the climate and the character of the wine. Inspired by this, the producers added Terroir Marítimo to the label, referencing the freshness and coastal identity that sets this wine apart.

While not formally certified, the estate takes a sensitive approach to vineyard management, working in balance with the Atlantic-influenced landscape. The sea breeze naturally moderates vineyard temperatures, reducing disease pressure and supporting healthy fruit. Each variety is grown on granite soils with high clay content, which retain water and provide structure and mineral tension to the final wine.

The wine contains a blend of 50% Alvarinho with 25% Arinto and 25% Maria Gomes (also known as Fernão Pires), harvested and fermented separately. Fermentation was carried out primarily in stainless steel, with 10% aged in foudres and barrels for three months. No malolactic fermentation was used, preserving bright acidity and purity of fruit. The Mixtus method of blending steel- and oak-aged components adds subtle structure while keeping the wine clean and fruit-driven.

Aromatically intense and expressive, the wine shows floral lift, saline freshness and ripe citrus character. The palate is round and structured, with mineral tension from the granite soils, and a dry, clean finish that hints at its coastal origin. Young, vibrant, and textural, it’s a white with depth and aging potential despite its freshness.

Excellent as an aperitif, it also pairs beautifully with steamed shellfish, sushi, light goat cheeses, or grilled white fish
