Viña Cobos, Vinculum Malbec

Viña Cobos, founded by renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs, is one of Argentina’s most prestigious wineries, producing world-class wines from the renowned Mendoza region. In an exploration of the different terroirs across Mendoza, Paul looks for the most distinguished regions in Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco to produce wines that uniquely express their origins. The winery’s elegant and balanced wines are a result of meticulous vineyard farming and utmost respect for terroir.

The name ‘Vinculum’ from the Latin meaning “a bond or link” exemplifies the essential connection between Viña Cobos and its producers.

After a traditional red wine fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in new French Oak (37%) in combination with second use oak (63%). The use of new oak adds complexity, contributing subtle notes of spice, vanilla, and toast, while the slow maturation process allows the wine to integrate its flavours, resulting in a wine with a refined balance of fruit and oak.

“Bold, spicy and oak-dominant, yet this is impressively fruity, showing layers of leather, dark berries and spice. Silky, mature and complex, enriched by a creamy texture. An opulent Malbec, plush and polished”. Decanter – 92 Points, 2024.

Matches perfectly with Beef wellington, lamb shanks, even poultry.
