Andrea Bernardini, a passionate Tuscan oenologist, has long partnered with the renowned Barbanera winery in Tuscany. Together they blend innovation and tradition, handpicking the best expressions from five standout vintages to craft this remarkable wine.
Barbanera’s Toscana Rosso 5/V is rooted in the clay and calcareous soils of Tuscany, artfully blending Cabernet, Sangiovese, and Merlot. Each grape is vinified with tailored techniques: Sangiovese ferments with whole grapes at cool temperatures to capture vibrant fruit, Cabernet benefits from gentle on-vine dehydration and controlled fermentation to build structure, while Merlot undergoes a brief cold maceration. A portion matures in oak barrels using the Solera method, the rest in steel, yielding a wine of striking complexity and character.
In the glass, it shows a deep red hue with purple highlights. The nose is rich and layered, offering notes of toasted spice, berry preserves, ripe plums, and raspberries. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and velvety, with integrated tannins leading to a long, harmonious finish.
Pair it with roasted meats, grilled steaks, game, or semi-aged cheeses—it also beautifully complements hearty pasta dishes.
Highly acclaimed, 5/V Toscana Rosso has earned 99 points in the Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani 2025, 93 and 92 points from winescritic.com, plus silver and gold medals at top international competitions.
