Il Cascinone, acquired by Araldica in 1999, is a historic estate in the Monferrato hills. The estate has undergone extensive restoration and replanting, with 70ha of the 102ha estate now in full production. The warmer southwest-facing slopes are used for growing Barbera, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, while the northeast slopes are ideal for aromatic varieties like Brachetto, Moscato, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. The ‘Il Cascinone’ range and part of the Alasia range are produced from grapes sourced from these prized vineyards, including the d’Annona vineyard in Fontanile, which is known for its premium quality Barbera from vines over 60 years old. All harvesting is done by hand, overseen by the Araldica winemaking team, including Claudio Manera, Lella Burdese, and Carlo Manera.

The 5ha Campo Fiorito vineyard is located on the north-east facing slopes of the 60 ha Il Cascinone estate in the Monferrato hills of Piemonte, planted in 1998. This cooler site is ideal for the slower maturation required to produce fresh white wines. Grapes are typically harvested between the end of August and early September, with 15% of the wine fermented and aged in French oak barriques for added richness and complexity.

Production at Il Cascinone adheres to the SQNPI trademark, a sustainable certification that guarantees eco-compatible practices. Wines bearing the bee symbol on their label have passed stringent criteria for integrated crop management, ensuring environmental and agricultural sustainability.

The wine presents a delicate nose of ripe stone fruit, lightly honeyed with a hint of creamy oak. On the palate, it is concentrated and well-balanced, with ripe peach characters, an appealing mouthfeel, and a fresh, long finish with savoury, toasty notes.
