Montes Alpha Pinot Noir

Montes Alpha Pinot Noir is a refined expression of Chile’s coastal terroir, crafted by one of the country’s most visionary producers. Founded in 1988 by Aurelio Montes and his partners, Montes helped redefine the potential of Chilean wine, and the Alpha range remains at the heart of that legacy.

This Pinot Noir is sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Zapallar, Casablanca, Leyda, and Santa Domingo—sites chosen for their cool Pacific influence, gently rolling slopes, and granitic soils rich in clay. The result is a wine with lifted aromatics, freshness, and an unmistakable sense of place. Vines are cultivated using the estate’s pioneering ‘Sustainable Dry Farmed’ system, which significantly reduces water usage while enhancing grape quality, reflecting Montes’ deep commitment to environmental responsibility.

Harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning, the grapes are sorted with meticulous care. A mix of whole cluster and destemmed fermentation techniques adds depth and complexity, followed by malolactic fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and oak. A portion of the wine matures for ten months in French oak (one-third new), adding polish and finesse.

In the glass, it shows a luminous ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, raspberry and blueberry unfold alongside notes of black plum, fig, and subtle oak-derived hints of crème brûlée and toasted spice. The palate is beautifully balanced—silky and supple, with fine tannins, lively acidity, and a smooth, persistent finish.

An elegant, cool-climate Pinot Noir with poise and personality, perfect for pairing with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom dishes or soft cheeses. Ideal for those seeking a nuanced and expressive red that combines Chilean vibrancy with Burgundian refinement.
