Monte Schiavo is part of the Tenute Pieralisi estate, a family-run operation founded in 1976 in the Marche region of Italy. The estate now covers around 103 hectares of prime vineyards, alongside olive groves and walnut trees. Under the guidance of Gennaro Pieralisi and his son Andrea, the family has invested heavily in the estate, blending tradition with modern technology to produce high-quality, authentic wines. Young winemaker Simone Schiaffino and renowned consultant Carlo Ferrini add depth and vibrancy to the range, focusing on indigenous varieties such as Verdicchio.
Tenute Pieralisi is committed to environmental stewardship, having transitioned to organic farming across their estate. Their sustainable practices include conserving resources, using low-energy LED lighting, installing a photovoltaic solar power system, and employing eco-friendly vehicles for local deliveries. The estate holds both the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety certification and registration with the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
The grapes for this Verdicchio Classico Amphora are sourced from estate vineyards at altitudes between 180 and 360 metres. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve fresh fruit aromas and characters, creating a fresh and expressive style.
On the nose, this wine offers fresh, zesty aromas of apricot, orchard fruits, white flowers, and citrus. The palate is textured and mineral-driven with ripe stone fruit and grapefruit notes, balanced by refreshing lemon acidity and a classic saline finish typical of Verdicchio.
This versatile wine pairs perfectly with shellfish and fish dishes but can also stand up to creamy sauces and chicken preparations.
