Luxury 6 Bottle Wooden Box

A selection of six fine wines from around the globe hand picked by The Sipster team.

1 x Craft Series The Exemplar Viognier 2013 – This is a viognier to rival the great wines of Condrieu in France. Heady perfume of ripe nectarine, preserved lemon and honeysuckle sit amongst spice and roasted nut richness .A tasting experience that has as much to do with palate texture and mouth feel as it does with the exotic flavour signature of Viognier. Oak infused stonefruits, citrus rind and white florals are neatly wound through a generous, silken mouthful that ultimately surrenders to the persistently dry, spice laden finish. New Zealand.

1 x Joseph Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet 2011 – At present, the wines are full of aromas with a beautiful freshness. They are well-balanced with a good acidity level, and show a great potential.  A generous and elegant wine. Light golden colour. Intense nose of flower, brioche and candied lemon aromas, evolving towards nuances of grilled hazelnut and spice as the wine matures. On the palate, the wine is straightforward, with a nice texture and finesse. It has a long aftertaste where floral and gingerbread notes dominate. France – Burgundy.

1 x Chateau Talbot Blanc 2017 – This is one interesting white Bordeaux with a 70/30 sauvignon/semillon blend which has spent 8 months in oak barrels whilst being stirred on the lees. It has such good depth of character with many subtle and upfront layers. The ideal temperature for this wine to be served is 11 degrees as any colder would mask many of its subtleties. It dominates the nose with fleshy white fruits and soft citrus aromas. Due to the 47 year old vines being in gravel soils there is a flint or wet pebble nuance with lemon juice coming through. Its very intense and has a very long finish with good aging capabilities. France – Bordeaux.

1 x Echeverria Signatura 1 Syrah 2012 – Echeverria Signatura 1 Syrah is an outstanding wine that is only produced in very small quantities. In fact only 1492 bottles of the 2012 vintage were made. Using only the finest grapes from the very best vineyards are used and the wine is aged for 24 months in small, new French oak barrels.  Aromas include notes of ripe raspberries, blueberries and blackberries with scents of dark chocolate and black pepper. Delicate notes of eucalyptus and spice add complexity to the palate. This rich and luscious wine offers great structure, deep concentrated flavours and a smooth silky palate, with a long and persistent aftertaste. Chile Maipo Valley

1 x Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2011 – This is one of Bodega Muga’s top wines. The grapes for this wine are the last to be picked and enter the winery. The wine goes through a very long ageing process consisting of 12 months in large American oak vats, followed by at least 36 months in mainly French oak barrels. Once bottled it is then kept in their cellars for at least another 36 months to complete the ageing process. this creates a wine that has a deep cherry red colour with pronounced aromas of creamy oak, red berry and black forest fruits together with notes of liquorice and toast. The palate is gentle, medium bodied with a silky, fleshy, round texture balanced by lovely freshness. With its ripe, polished tannins and good acidity, this Gran Reserva can be enjoyed today but should age beautifully over several years.  Spain – Rioja

1 x Joseph Drouhin Nuits-Saint Georges 2014 – For the last 140 years, Maison Joseph Drouhin has been in the hands of the Drouhin family. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm, animated by the same passion that inspired the founder of the company.  The aromas are powerful and elegant, with notes of cherry and blackberry, as well as hints of cedar wood evolving towards gamey touches. On the palate: beautiful balance between structure and softness. The long aftertaste is reminiscent of fruit syrups and mild spices. France – Burgundy.
