From the biodynamic vineyards of Cantina Orsogna at the foot of Majella National Park, ‘Ruminat’ Primitivo is a bold, expressive red that stays true to its roots. Named from the Latin ruminat (“to chew”) and a nod to ruminant animals, this wine reflects both its richness and a quiet, grounded strength, echoed by the elegant deer on its label.
Produced using organic and biodynamic practices, this wine is vegan and vegetarian friendly. The winemaking philosophy centres on preserving the land, supporting local biodiversity, and honouring traditional methods — symbolised by the hand-tied orange rope around each bottle.
Crafted from 100% Primitivo, the wine displays a bright ruby-red colour with heady aromas of plum, cherry, violet, carob, and warming rum spice. The palate is full yet smooth, brimming with rich black cherry, blackcurrant, cinnamon, and clove, all supported by soft, velvety tannins and a plush mouthfeel.
Perfect pairings include tomato-based pasta dishes, chargrilled pork, roasted Mediterranean vegetables, slow-cooked beef, or skewered lamb. Its supple texture and generous fruit make it equally enjoyable on its own.
Awarded Silver at the Internationaler Bioweinpreis 2017, this is a wine that delivers both substance and soul, expressing the best of Abruzzo terroir with an everyday charm and authenticity.
