Lawson’s Dry Hills is a winery built on over three decades of experience, driven by curiosity and a deep respect for the land. Established in Marlborough, New Zealand’s renowned wine region, the estate combines traditional vineyard know-how with modern winemaking to craft wines of character, clarity, and charm. Each bottle reflects a balance of innovation and heritage, delivering vibrant expressions of both grape and place with an unmistakable sense of authenticity.
Lawson’s Dry Hills has been a pioneer in sustainable viticulture in New Zealand for almost two decades, holding multiple certifications including 100% Sustainable (ISO 14001), Carbon Zero (ISO 14064, certified by Toitū since 2021), and B Corporation Certification, which reflects their commitment to balancing commercial success with social and environmental responsibility. The winery practices holistic environmental management, reduces carbon emissions, conserves water, and uses sustainable packaging such as lightweight bottles with recycled glass content, FSC-certified paper, and biodegradable pallet wrap.
The fruit is sourced from two vineyards in the Awatere and Waihopai Valleys, with carefully controlled low yields to concentrate flavour. Harvesting occurred when the passionfruit characters were at their peak, and the grapes were gently pressed. Fermentation was mostly carried out in stainless steel tanks, with a small portion (4%) fermented in old French barriques using wild yeast, which adds complexity to the wine.
The wine bursts with vibrant aromas of lemon, passionfruit, honeysuckle, and ripe tropical fruits, offering a fresh, aromatic, and crisp experience. On the palate, it delivers a lovely concentration of citrus and tropical flavours balanced by fresh, green, herbaceous notes and a gentle, dry finish. This wine is well structured with bright acidity and excellent length, making it both lively and elegant.
This Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish, fresh salads, feta or goat cheese, dishes featuring fresh herbs, as well as light Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. It also shines when enjoyed on its own as a refreshing, expressive wine.
