Henners Gardner Street Classic Bacchus Chardonnay

Gardner Street takes its name from the historic village of Herstmonceux, home to Henners winery. A blend of fresh, floral Bacchus and barrel-fermented Chardonnay, it reflects the artisanal craft of English winemaking. Henners, founded in 2007 by ex-Formula One engineer Lawrence Warr, thrives just four miles from the sea in East Sussex, benefiting from a unique microclimate. The estate, now part of Boutinot, is dedicated to hand-crafted wines, extended lees ageing, and meticulous blending for complexity and elegance.

As a founding member of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain, Henners is committed to environmentally responsible winemaking. Awarded SWGB’s Gold Trademark in 2025, they continue to reduce water use, lower their carbon footprint, and promote biodiversity. Their dedication ensures every bottle is crafted with care, sustainability, and a deep respect for the land.

Sourced from vineyard partners in Essex and Kent, each parcel was harvested separately and fermented in small lots to showcase their unique character. 30% of the blend was fermented in neutral 300L French oak barrels and underwent malolactic fermentation, adding depth and texture. The rest was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel, preserving bright fruit flavours and freshness.

Aromatic and zesty, this wine bursts with elderflower, gooseberry, and citrus notes of white peach, melon, and orange. Hints of white currant and lime zest add vibrancy, softened by a subtle creaminess that balances the fresh acidity and lively floral aromas.

A perfect match for pork tenderloin in cider, vegetable lasagne, or hake in butter sauce with capers.
