Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1994 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford’s appreciation for the wines, the people, and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast.

The winemaking process involved fermentation in French oak barrels, with a balanced use of new and neutral oak to enhance structure without overwhelming the wine’s delicate fruit profile. Extended lees contact and periodic stirring (bâtonnage) added a creamy texture and depth to the final blend.

This Chardonnay has an inviting aromatic profile, with floral hints of jasmine, citrus oil, and white blossoms, complemented by fresh green apple, pear, and kiwi. The flavours unfold smoothly on the palate, offering bright notes of lemon zest, crisp apple, and a touch of minerality. Midway, the wine becomes more fruit-forward, with layers of tropical fruit, lemon drop, and a hint of honeycomb. The finish is long and refined, with subtle traces of crystallized ginger and a lingering mineral character, creating a balanced and vibrant expression.

This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes. Its bright acidity and rich texture complement seafood like grilled shrimp, seared scallops, and buttery lobster. It also pairs well with roasted poultry, creamy pasta dishes, and soft cheeses such as brie or camembert.
