Felline Primitivo di Manduria

Felline Winery is located in Manduria, Puglia, just 10km from the Gulf of Taranto. Founded in 1992 by Gregory Perrucci, a third-generation winemaker, the estate is dedicated to showcasing the Primitivo grape, a variety perfectly suited to the region’s sunny, dry climate. With 120 hectares of vineyards spread across carefully selected plots, the winery works with a range of soil types—including sand, loam, tuff, and clay over limestone—to capture the unique characteristics of each terroir. Grapes from these different soils are vinified separately, allowing the individuality of each site to shine through. The winery’s philosophy is rooted in tradition, producing authentic wines that reflect the true essence of Manduria.

This Primitivo di Manduria is a vibrant and expressive red, grown in the region’s distinctive iron-rich red soils. The grapes are hand-harvested in early September and carefully fermented before maturing for six months in French oak barriques. The result is a wine with enticing aromas of cherry, ripe red berries, and delicate balsamic notes from the oak ageing. On the palate, bright acidity lifts the rich fruit flavours, while smooth, rounded tannins give depth and balance.

A wonderfully food-friendly wine, it pairs beautifully with home-made pasta in a rich tomato sauce, as well as grilled meats. With its bold fruit, fine structure, and signature minerality from the iron-rich soils, this Primitivo truly reflects the heritage and character of Manduria.
