Combining traditional techniques with modern expertise, the distillery produces its award-winning rums in small batches, preserving the distinctive character that has made Demerara rum internationally renowned.

El Dorado 21 Year Old Special Reserve is a masterful blend of rums aged between 21 and 25 years in ex-bourbon oak casks under Guyana’s tropical climate. Produced from carefully fermented molasses and distilled using the distillery’s legendary heritage stills, including the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still, Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still and French Savalle Still, the rum develops exceptional depth and complexity. Each still contributes its own character, from rich body and spice to elegant cognac-like notes and a velvety smooth finish.

Deep mahogany in colour, the nose reveals luxurious aromas of mocha, toffee, tobacco and dark spices. The palate is rich and velvety, unfolding layers of tropical fruit, coffee, leather, oak and rich toffee. Nutty and smoky undertones add further complexity, leading to an exceptionally long, smooth and satisfying finish.

Best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to fully appreciate its remarkable depth and complexity. It also pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, fine cigars and rich desserts.

El Dorado 21 Year Old has received numerous international accolades, including a Gold Medal at the International Rum Festival in Canada and a Silver Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London. It was also recognised by the Beverage Tasting Institute in Chicago as the highest-scoring rum they had tasted at the time.
