Description
Grapes from Quinta do Bomfim were harvested in late September from a vintage that yeilded small crop. The overall style from the quality concious producer was concentrated, powerful and intense with balanced acidity and elegant tannic structure. The Dow’s certainly falls into that category, the nose is full of ripe plum and juicy blackberry fruit with hints of baking spices and cassis. The palate is richly textured and oppulant with a firm tannic structure adding to the rich and decadent mouthfeel. A very well constructed, full bodied young Dow that should last for many decades.

An opaque blue/purple color (typical of this vintage’s top offerings) is followed by a strikingly provocative aromatic display (flowers, licorice, blackberries, and cassis). This firmly-structured, classic, tightly-knit, restrained port exhibits brilliant purity as well as impressive intensity. While not the most dramatic or flamboyant, it is a beautiful, classically structured port that will age gracefully. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2030. 94 Points Robert Parker erobertparker.com
