Boutinot’s love affair with the Southern Rhône spans over 30 years, culminating in the 2010 acquisition of vineyards and a winery in Cairanne. Their seven vineyards, planted with old-vine Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan, sit within the Cairanne Cru boundaries, granted appellation status in 2016. Working alongside local vignerons, Boutinot is reviving traditional Rhône varieties like Cinsault and Counoise, using time-honoured winemaking methods such as natural yeast fermentation, manual pigeage, and patient oak maturation.
In July 2021, Domaine Boutinot Rhône achieved the prestigious Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE 3) certification, recognising its dedication to biodiversity conservation, sustainable plant protection, responsible fertiliser use, and water management.
Nestled in the high-altitude, east-facing vineyards of Séguret, this exceptional Grenache-driven wine is crafted from vines planted over 50 years ago. Grown on stony, argillaceous limestone terraces above the renowned “slopes of schiste”, the grapes enjoy morning sun and even ripening temperatures, producing wines of depth and elegance. Due to the rugged terrain, hand-harvesting is essential.
In the cellar, traditional vinification methods are used, including a long cuvaison with wild yeasts and gentle remontage to fully extract the potential of the fruit. The wine is then aged for up to 22 months in French oak, a balanced mix of 228-litre barrels and 600-litre demi-muids, enhancing its complexity and structure.
A classic, opulent Séguret that represents the best of Côtes du Rhône Villages. The nose is rich and polished, layered with exotic spices, cigar box, cracked black pepper, and a streak of vanilla. On the palate, it is smooth and inviting on entry, but quickly unfolds into a deep, textured experience with lingering complexity. This is a bold, Grenache-led wine with a remarkable structure, length, and finish, seamlessly integrating fine oak character.
A perfect match for hearty casseroles and slow-cooked dishes. In winter, pair with lamb tagine and couscous; in summer, enjoy alongside a rich ratatouille topped with grilled tofu. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses for a simple yet indulgent pairing.
A true reflection of the Séguret terroir, this powerful yet elegant Rhône wine embodies tradition, sustainability, and outstanding quality.
