Since 1934, and across four generations, the De Martino family has focused on crafting wines that are distinguished by their sense of place, purity, and balance. They embrace sustainable farming practices and traditional winemaking techniques to create wines that not only represent them but also authentically reflect the vineyards from which they originate.
Pietro De Martino arrived in Chile from Italy in 1934, with a vision of discovering a unique location to produce the exceptional wine he had always dreamed of. Maipo Island, with its rocky soils and Mediterranean climate, provided the ideal conditions for crafting wines that are both fresh and elegant in style.
It is a fruity and expressive wine that has a brilliant ruby red colour.
On the nose, there are intense aromas of red fruits such as raspberries and cherries, giving the wine a young style, great structure and complexity. This is a Merlot with good balance of tannins, acidity, oak and red fruits.
The De Martino Estate Merlot pairs wonderfully with a range of dishes, including roasted lamb with rosemary, grilled steak, or a rich beef stew. Its smooth, velvety texture also complements creamy pasta dishes, such as fettuccine Alfredo, or soft cheeses like Brie and Gouda
