Copeland 26.1 marks Copeland’s first release of 2026 — a bold, cask strength expression.
Recently crowned ‘Best Single Malt in Ireland under 11 Years Old’ at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2025, this limited bottling showcases the distillery’s confident, flavour-led approach to maturation.
Double-distilled from a mash bill of 100% malted barley in traditional copper pot stills, the spirit has been matured for a minimum of five years on the Ards Peninsula. This release sees the whiskey aged in a distinctive combination of ex-Pinot Noir and ex-Syrah (Shiraz) barriques — casks that previously held Copeland’s own overproof rum — adding layers of depth, red berry richness and subtle spice to the vibrant malt character. Bottled exclusively at cask strength, 57.8% ABV, it delivers intensity, texture and structure in equal measure.
The whiskey opens with a bright, authoritative nose, rich in juicy fruits layered with a gentle nuttiness, Manuka honey sweetness and the comforting warmth of malted barley.
On the palate, a mouth-coating oiliness immediately develops, carrying aromatic intensity, building heat and warming spice. Rich woody tannins bring structure, while notes of brown sugar settle over dark, golden toast, adding depth and a subtle caramelised richness.
The finish is long, warm and dry, with a sweet floral character that lingers elegantly, leaving a lasting impression of balance and strength.
