Chateau Puy-Razac is a powerful yet subtle blend of 55% merlot and 45% petit verdot. The petit verdot adds the explosive fruit bomb to the mix and the merlot provides the backbone and the weight to the blend. Big plum notes on the nose and depending on the vintage anywhere between 12 to 16 months in oak with a mixture of new and used oak barrels again all depending on the vintage. There is toasted coffee and creamy blue fruit notes on nose and palate. The acid, tannin and alcohol all balance harmoniously. This is a big wine with a big alcohol volume at 14.5% but very easily tamed and due to this it has an ability to be laid down for some more maturity.
