After 60 years of various good terroir parcel acquisitions, the Château Gloria estate extends over 48 hectares and is planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. The meaning of Gloria is a hymn of praise recited or sung at mass. And the parallel with the wine from the Château of this name is inevitable given the acclaim it has received. The roughly 50 hectares of vineyard are planted with Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot that grow on the sainted soil of Saint-Julien. The quality is in the drinking of the recent vintages, which display a good balance between finesse and body, complexity and juiciness. A wine not to be missed from the Bordeaux region.
The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 11% Petit Verdot, aging for approximately 14 months in French oak barrels, 40% new oak
“Opaque purple-black colored, the 2020 Gloria comes soaring out of the glass with notes of blackcurrant cordial, preserved plums and blueberry compote, followed by suggestions of powdered cinnamon, cedar chest and menthol, plus a waft of graphite. The medium to full-bodied palate is completely coated with juicy black fruits, framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy. ” – 94 Points – Robert Parker
