Cave de Turckheim Reserve Pinot Gris

Cave de Turckheim is a renowned cooperative winery located in the heart of Alsace, France. Established in 1955, it has become one of the region’s leading producers, known for crafting high-quality wines that reflect Alsace’s unique terroir. With a commitment to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking techniques, Cave de Turckheim specializes in varietal wines, particularly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris. The winery’s meticulous approach—from hand-harvesting grapes to precise vinification—ensures wines of exceptional character, elegance, and authenticity.

The vineyards of Cave de Turckheim are strategically located at the entrance of the Munster Valley, benefiting from a diverse range of soil types and microclimates. This diversity allows for the cultivation of high-quality grapes that contribute to the wine’s complexity and depth. The winemaking process is overseen by experienced vintners who employ traditional methods, including pneumatic pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation. A portion of the wine matures in stainless steel tanks, while up to 25% is aged in French oak barrels for six months, enhancing its texture and imparting subtle smoky notes.

On the nose, it offers enticing floral and spice aromas, complemented by hints of ripe Mirabelle plums and yellow pear. The palate is rich and full-bodied, showcasing flavours of stone fruits with a touch of sweetness that accentuates the fruitiness, yet finishes dry, clean, and fresh. The wine’s texture is enhanced by a long, slightly smoky finish, adding to its complexity and appeal.

An excellent companion for fish, chicken, and vegetable dishes, especially those featuring exotic flavours and spices such as ginger and chili. The wine’s balanced acidity and richness also complement dishes from Thai and other Asian cuisines, enhancing both the food and the wine’s inherent qualities.

Over the years, this wine has garnered several awards, reflecting its consistent quality and craftsmanship. Notably, the 2012 vintage received a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge in 2014, and the 2014 vintage was listed in The Wine Merchant’s Top 100 in 2016. These accolades underscore the wine’s esteemed position among Alsace Pinot Gris offerings.
