Cartlidge and Browne Cabernet Sauvignon

Cartlidge & Browne’s Cabernet Sauvignon exemplifies the winery’s commitment to producing high-quality, varietally pure Californian wines. Founded in 1980 by Tony Cartlidge and Glenn Browne in a modest Napa Valley garage, the winery has grown over the decades while maintaining its original ethos of sourcing premium grapes from diverse vineyards across California.

Cartlidge & Browne’s approach involves selecting grapes from various North Coast vineyards, including regions like Sonoma and the Sierra foothills. This strategy allows the winemaking team to craft wines that balance powerful tannins with bold dark fruit notes. The inclusion of small amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot adds finesse to the final blend.

The Cabernet Sauvignon presents a deep ruby hue. On the nose, it offers an array of fruit aromas such as plum, blackberry, and cherry pie, complemented by subtle hints of dried herbs and dusty tannins. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, delivering a lingering finish that showcases the wine’s complexity and balance.

Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure the desired flavour profile. The wine undergoes a lengthy fermentation process and is aged for eight months in both French and American oak barrels, contributing to its depth and complexity.

This versatile Cabernet Sauvignon pairs excellently with a variety of dishes, including steak, lamb chops, sausage pasta, and mushroom-based recipes. Its rich flavour profile also complements hearty meat dishes such as filet mignon and prime ribs.
