Just a stone’s throw from the distillery, the Giant’s Causeway has inspired us for centuries. Its extraordinary hexagonal columns form a series of steps, much like the expressions in this Collection. This 1995 single malt is a bold new footstep for Bushmills, one that not only honours the giants and generations before us but also the incomparable natural landscape in which it’s forged.

Bushmills Causeway Collection Set

Description

Just a stone’s throw from the distillery, the Giant’s Causeway has inspired Bushmills for centuries. Its extraordinary hexagonal columns form a series of steps, much like the expressions in this Collection. This release of the 1995 single malt and the 2008 single malt is a bold new footstep for Bushmills, one that not only honours the giants and generations before, but also the incomparable natural landscape in which it’s forged.

The 1995 Malaga Cask is a limited edition rare cask finished, cask strength (53.5% ABV) and non chill-filtered Irish single malt that’s been distilled, matured, finished and bottled at the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery.

After maturing quietly for almost 11 years in oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, Helen Mulholland, Master Blender, finished this whiskey in old and rare Malaga casks.

The wood imbued with this sweet Spanish wine brings bold fruit notes and a distinct nuttiness. And where others might recask their whiskey for just six months or so, we’ve added deeper waves of flavour by finishing it in Malaga casks for an unprecedented 14 years.

This extraordinary length of time deepens the fruit flavours, present from the first maturation, turning them into rich plum notes with a hint of spice, while the sweetness has intensified into honey. After almost 25 years in oak, wood too is evident, with toasted vanilla but also more unusual pinches of coffee grounds. It’s a sensational whiskey that stands with the best of Irish single malt, a giant in its own right.

The 2008 Muscatel Cask is a limited edition rare cask finished, cask strength (56.4% ABV) and non chill-filtered Irish single malt that’s been distilled, matured, finished and bottled at the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery.

After maturing quietly for almost eight years in oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, Helen Mulholland, the Master Blender, finished this whiskey in rare muscatel casks.

Permeated with wine made from the aromatic muscat grape, the muscatel cask imparts luscious ripe fruit notes and a deep sweetness. And where others might recask their whiskey for just six months or so, we’ve added deeper waves of flavour by finishing it in muscatel casks for an unprecedented four years.

A velvety smooth sweetness gives way to deeper summer fruit notes. Scents of citrus lead to a finish bursting with sweet raisin. It’s a sensational whiskey that stands with the best of Irish single malt, a giant in its own right.
