Bottega Vinai Lagrein

Produced from fruit grown in the Valle del Sarca, on loose stony-limestone soils which benefit from the warm wind coming from Lake Garda. Lagrein prefers warm, sheltered areas and produces wine of noteworthy concentration and complexity. Traditionally vinified at 28-29 degrees C with long maceration on the skins in small stainless steel tanks. It is then moved to barriques for 12-14 months and subsequently matured in large oak casks for a further 6 months.

Cavit is a leading co-operative in Trentino, northeast Italy, uniting 11 cellars and 5,250 growers across 6,350 hectares. Founded in 1950, with a dedicated winery at Ravina di Trento since 1964, it produces a diverse range of wines from indigenous and international varieties. Trentino boasts Italy’s highest proportion of DOC wines, with Cavit overseeing 60% of the region’s production.

Sustainability is at the heart of Cavit’s approach. They follow Trentino’s high-quality production protocol, use 100% renewable energy, and hold SNQPI and ISO 14001:2015 environmental certifications. Their innovative PICA platform, developed with leading research institutes, helps 4,500 growers optimise vineyard management, reducing waste and enhancing sustainability. Through precision viticulture, Cavit ensures responsible farming while maintaining the highest quality standards.

A warm spicy nose with lightly smoky aromas, which mingle with plum, red berries and a hint of chocolate. The palate is finely structured with supple tannins and bright balancing acidity. Ripe plum and blackberry fruit lead to long, savoury finish with a typically Italian bitter cherry twist.

Delicious served with grilled red meat, stews or pasta with a concentrated meat or tomato sauce.
