Big Top Zinfandel is a vibrant Californian red wine produced by Boutinot, a UK-based wine company with a strong presence in the U.S. market. Boutinot has been collaborating with growers in California for over a decade, particularly in the Lodi region, to craft wines that reflect the area’s unique terroir. The winemaking team, led by Samantha Bailey, focuses on creating approachable wines that showcase the fruit-forward character typical of Zinfandel.
The grapes for this wine are carefully selected from old vine Zinfandel vineyards in the Lodi region of Central California, where the warm climate allows the fruit to develop full, ripe flavours. The wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks and undergoes a touch of oak ageing, adding depth and complexity.
On the palate, this Zinfandel bursts with flavours of dark cherry, raspberry jam, and baking spices, complemented by notes of mocha and sweet tobacco. It’s a medium to full-bodied wine with a velvety texture and a lingering finish.
