Bellevue Estate is a family-owned farm rooted in South Africa’s rich winemaking tradition. With a pioneering history that includes the early commercial planting of Pinotage in the 1950s, Bellevue continues to champion both quality and innovation. Each wine reflects the estate’s deep connection to its land, heritage, and pursuit of excellence.
Named after one of Bellevue’s prized Arabian mares, Tumara—an embodiment of strength, grace, and endurance—this bold Bordeaux-style blend brings together all five classic varietals: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Malbec, 10% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc.
After a four-day cold soak, each variety was fermented separately with daily pump-overs to enhance colour and flavour. Once malolactic fermentation was complete in French oak barrels (60% new), the wines were blended and returned to barrel for 22 months of maturation, building depth, refinement, and seamless integration.
The nose reveals classic Bordeaux aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco leaf, and cigar box. The palate is rich and layered, with ripe dark berries supported by fine-grained tannins. Silky in texture and long on the finish, this wine delivers both finesse and aging potential—ideal for the cellar or a sophisticated table.
An excellent companion to classic meat dishes, it pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef Wellington, or duck breast in cherry reduction. It also complements mature cheeses like aged cheddar or gouda, and elevates hearty vegetarian fare such as wild mushroom risotto or herbed lentil stew. Its layered complexity makes it a perfect match for multi-course meals and special occasions.
