Midleton Very Rare 2026, the pinnacle of Irish Whiskey, proudly unveils its 2026 vintage, an exceptional blend of the finest single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys, matured in seasoned American oak. This year’s release continues the legacy of craftsmanship and precision that defines the Midleton tradition, balancing vibrant fruit character with the hallmark elegance and complexity for which the series is renowned.
The nose opens with vibrant, fresh citrus aromas of orange peel and lemon zest, accompanied by delicate hints of soft apricot and orchard fruits. These bright fruit notes are soon joined by indulgent tones reminiscent of crème brûlée and toffee. The influence of American oak enhances the structure and depth of this aged and complex whiskey, seamlessly intertwining with pot still spices and the floral grain whiskey nuances of geranium and fresh herbal notes.
On the palate, a rich assortment of luscious, mouthwatering fruit takes centre stage, accentuated by the oak’s soft tannins and generous layers of vanilla and cinnamon. Notes of peeled ginger and lemon zest lend a crisp, fresh dynamic, beautifully balancing indulgent flavours of butterscotch and toffee. The quintessential, mouth-coating pot still character remains constant throughout, providing both texture and complexity.
The finish is long and harmonious. The pot still spices gradually soften, allowing the rich infusion of fruits and oak to linger elegantly to the very end — a seamless marriage of pot still and grain whiskeys that showcases the very best of Midleton craftsmanship.
